Stranger Things 5 Theory: Fans have fought over the fate of their favorite character, Eddie Munson, whose terrible “death” in Stranger Things 4. According to one of the more often stated theories, Eddie may come back as Kas, the famous soldier who turns against Vecna in Dungeons & Dragons. Still, a closer look at D&D history reveals a more intriguing possibility for Eddie’s comeback, perhaps not as Kas but as the false Kas, a Death Knight sure he’s serving Vecna.
False Kas is an evil warrior who thinks he serves Vecna in the D&D adventure “Die, Vecna, Die!”; nevertheless, he is most surely not the real Kas. This matches Eddie’s development too uncomfortably. He may have even undergone partial flaying, akin to Billy and Will’s manipulation via their brains and recollections, after Demobats attacked him. Eddie could genuinely think he is a faithful servant to Vecna, echoing the tale of the false Kas, if Vecna was somehow able to influence Eddie’s mind.
Interestingly, Death Knights somewhere also wield Hellfire Orbs, as Eddie belonged to the Hellfire Club and even has bat and puppeteer image, which is strongly associated with Vecna.
Stranger Things shows planned musical decisions. The same song that emphasized the scenes of dead characters returning-Will, Eleven, and Max-strongly connects to Eddie’s crumbling fate as they were similar.
The title of Season 5 Episode 1, “The Crawl,” has sparked conjecture. As a newly created slave, Eddie may be prowling across the Upside Down looking for Vecna.
We never saw the body, and Dustin never checked for Eddie’s pulse. The Demobats’ hive-mind response to fire might have caused Eddie to pass out temporarily. Eddie’s death is far from a certain thing.
Though Season 5 is on the horizon, fans still hold that Eddie’s resurrection as a corrupted, manipulated Death Knight is among the most powerful and captivating ideas yet.
