The main accused in Saif Ali Khan’s Attack finally confesses. Recent reports state that police in Thane, Maharashtra, have arrested the man who stabbed actor Saif Ali Khan. On January 16, Mumbai Police arrested a man who reportedly attacked actor Saif Ali Khan at his home in Mumbai. The arrest happened in Thane, Maharashtra, early on Sunday, January 19, 2025. Initially giving a bogus name, the suspect—who was later identified as Mohammad Shehzad—admitted to entering into the actor’s house and carrying out the attack.
The defendant, who worked for a housekeeping company, was arrested at a work camp next to a metro construction site in the city’s Hiranandani Estate neighborhood. The arrest was the result of a breakthrough made by Mumbai police officers from the Vile Parle station.
According to the authorities, the assailant of Saif Ali Khan went by several identities, including BJ, Vijay Das, Bijoy Das, and Mohammad Illyas. He lives in West Bengal, according to India Today. Mohammad was taken to Bandra to be questioned about the case. He will appear in court this morning to be placed under police remand.
The police are investigating whether the attacker is an Indian citizen or a Bangladeshi national using a fake Indian identity. The Mumbai Police is expected to hold a press conference at 9 AM, January 19, 2025. Before apprehending the attacker, posters featuring his images from CCTV footage—showing him climbing down the stairs of Saif Ali Khan’s home—were displayed across Mumbai and nearby areas.
After the assailant was seen on several CCTV recordings the Mumbai Police put up squads to track him down. The case’s breakthrough occurred when a suspect was arrested in Durg, Chhattisgarh. A team from Mumbai Police went to Durg to question the suspect, Aakash Kailash Kannojia, age 31.
In Durg district, the suspect was captured by the Chhattisgarh Railway Protection Force (RPF) while riding the Gyaneshwari Express. The interception occurred as a result of the Mumbai Police giving the railway officials the suspect’s photo and location information. Another person was previously arrested in Madhya Pradesh, which stoked rumors that he was connected to the stabbing case of Saif Ali Khan. Officials stressed, however, that the individual was unrelated and related to another case.
