Salman Khan-Lawrence Bishnoi Conflict: Members of Jaipur’s Bishnoi clan burned effigies of Salman Khan and his father, Salim Khan, emphasizing that the blackbuck is important to them.
Members of Jaipur’s Bishnoi community protested on Saturday (October 27, 2024) by burning effigies of actor Salman Khan and his father, screenwriter Salim Khan. This protest was fuelled by resentment over Salim Khan’s alleged “misleading” comments about the 1998 blackbuck poaching incident.
The Bishnoi community reveres the blackbuck, and their leaders underlined the significance of accountability from the actor, noting that they do not malign anyone in that manner.
According to a media house, members of the Bishnoi community gathered in Jaipur on October 27 to demonstrate against the father-son combo. They stated that as Bishnois, they will not malign anyone without reason.
They highlighted that when the complaint was launched 26 years ago, several significant persons, including the Bishnoi community’s MLA at the time, were in attendance.
The group stated, “Salim Khan cannot mislead people by giving false statements. The entire community was hurt by Salim Khan’s statement. We will make all-out efforts to ensure justice was delivered in the Blackbuck case. We will also protest by taking to the streets”.
In a recent interview, Salim Khan claimed that Salman is innocent and would never harm an animal.
The poaching event in Rajasthan in 1998 sparked widespread outrage. Despite Salman’s acquittal, the Bishnoi tribe continues to demand an apology from the actor.
The protest comes after mobster Lawrence Bishnoi launched a series of death threats against Salman and Salim. Lawrence has indicated that his enmity towards Salman derives from the blackbuck poaching case. He has demanded that Salman visit the Bishnoi community temple in Rajasthan to ask forgiveness. He also threatens grave consequences if he does not do so. Earlier this year, Lawrence’s gang members fired gunfire outside Salman’s home.
