Taxi No. 9211
Based on the 2002 American film Changing Lanes, Taxi No. 9211 is a 2006 comedy thriller that brilliantly displays street rage. Directed by Milind Luthra and produced by Ramesh Sippy, it is a story about a taxi driver and a rich, spoilt kid. The crux of the story is how one incident changes their lives.
Nana Patekar and John Abraham are brilliant in their roles. While Nana brings the typical Mumbaikar auto driver swag, John perfectly fits the role of Jai, a greedy, spoiled kid. Both have their problems to deal with, and they intensify when they cross paths.
No Smoking
Another fabulous film of John Abraham is No Smoking, directed by Anurag Kashyap. Ayesha Takia, Ranvir Shorey, and Paresh Rawal play pivotal roles. No Smoking is a dark and unusual story that came ahead of its time. Nana Patekar unleashed the intense and intriguing actor in him in Shimit Amin’s crime drama Ab Tak Chappan. Released in 2004, the movie has several goosebumps moments throughout. Coming from the school of Ram Gopal Varma, the film is inspired by Mumbai Police Officer Daya Nayak, an encounter specialist. Nana Patekar plays the protagonist, Inspector Sadhu Agashe, who has a reputation for killing 56 people in multiple police encounters. Dev D
Dev D is another of Anurag Kashyap’s films on the list. A modern portrayal of Devdas, the film highlights love, pain, and suffering.
