Aamir Khan’s Thoughts If Laapataa Ladies Wins Oscars. In his recent interview with BBC News India Aamir Khan shared his thoughts on his Oscars-nominated movie, Laapataa Ladies. When asked what made him produce the film. Khan said he loved the story. It is the script that spoke to him addressing the important issues. He further said that women all over the world have been subjected to a lot of challenges. He believes that women have a raw deal in their lives not only just in India but all over the world and he doesn’t feel nice about that.
Aamir Khan showed his love for India and Indian films. he admitted that India itself has many audiences. Indian directors have never tried to do a film for international audiences.
After giving a brief plot of the film he was asked by the host about how he would feel if Laapataa Ladies won the Oscar. With a smile, Aamir said “It would create tremendous opportunity for the film to be seen by many more people because when it wins an Oscar or Academy Award, people worldwide want to see what it’s like. So it opens a huge window of opportunity for a larger audience.”
On behalf of Indian fans, he guessed how they would react if the movie won an Academy Award. He said, “Indians are so film crazy, and we have been dying to win an Academy Award for an Indian film, which hasn’t happened till now. So the country would go ballistic. They’ll just go mad if we win. Just for the people of our country, I’d be very happy if we win the award.”
Aamir Khan’s ex-wife Kiran Rao directed Laapataa Ladies. The film addresses the minor issues faced by Indian women which has a bigger impact and consequences. It speaks about women’s rights and education. On 23rd September 2024, Laapataa Ladies made its way to the nominations for the Academy Awards for Best International Feature Film.
