Amitabh’s Iconic Fraud Alert: Sources revealed to the media that authorities will remove megastar Amitabh Bachchan’s cybercrime awareness caller tune starting Thursday. The pre-recorded message, which played every time someone made a call, was part of the Centre’s campaign to raise awareness about the surge in cyber fraud cases.
One of the sources confirmed, “The caller tune will be removed from today because the campaign has concluded.” The move comes after increasing public complaints that the tune created delays during emergencies, preventing callers from connecting immediately. Recently, when social media users mocked Bachchan over the message, specifically the line “Ji haan huzoor, main bhi ek prashansak hoon”, the actor responded sharply. In a seemingly offhand post on Monday, he wrote, “Toh?” (So?). A user replied, “Toh phone pe bolna band kro bhay” (So stop saying it on the phone), echoing the frustration many had expressed online.

The actor hit back, saying, “Sarkar ko bolo bhai, unhone jo kaha humne kar diya” (Tell the government, I did what they told me to do). One person took a dig at Mr. Bachchan’s age, commenting, “Buddha sathiya gaya” (He has gone senile).
Bachchan didn’t stay silent. He responded, “Ek din bhagwan na karein who jaldi aaye, ap bhi sathiya jaayenge” (May God forbid that day comes soon, but you too will grow senile). He added, “Parantu humarein yaha kahawat hai, jo satha, who patha,” meaning “the older, the wiser.” Earlier, Mr. Bachchan also faced backlash for lending his voice to a pre-recorded caller tune that promoted coronavirus precautions. After he and several members of his family tested positive for COVID-19, a public interest litigation was filed in the Delhi High Court, seeking to remove his voice from the message.
