Anurag Kashyap Condemns at Shankar’s Instagram Reels Approach for “Game Changer.” The Bollywood director and actor Anurag Kashyap took a dig at Shankar, the director of the most anticipated film of Ram Charan’s Game Changer. Kashyap criticized Shankar’s idea of making the movie ‘Game Changer’. In one of the interviews, the director Shankar revealed that Game Changer is designed in the style of Instagram Reels to cater to audiences’ shorter attention spans. The statement from the director is now facing backlash from other filmmakers.
Reacting to Shankar’s statements the Gangs of Wasseypur director Anurag Kashyap expressed his disagreement. Anurag said, “I was reading this statement by Shankar sir saying, ‘Today’s audience’s (attention) span has become very short. They watch Reels. So, we have kept that in mind while doing Game Changer.’ Now I don’t know what that means! We’ll only know when we see the film.”
He also spoke on behalf of other filmmakers and asserted that they shouldn’t limit their creativity. Kashyap said, “A lot of filmmakers are talking in this language like, ‘My film is just like Reels put together because that’s what the audience wants to watch.’ Filmmakers who, at one time for me, were like chefs for me, creating things, are becoming caterers. The moment one starts thinking in terms of what audience wants to watch, that is where the decline begins. The audience is not a one-organ person; it’s a massive sea of people. I still go by the old dictum of what filmmakers used to say, ‘audience will see what we put on screen with conviction, passion and love.’ That’s how you create a new thing. If you’re trying to guess what audience wants to watch, then you are literally destroying yourself… limiting yourself”
‘Game Changer’ is Ram Charan’s upcoming political drama scheduled to release on 10th January 2025.
