Recently, Anil Sharma, the director of Salman Khan’s Veer, acknowledged the film’s climax. He believes that it was a major reason for its failure. Salman Khan frequently stated that he aspired to be a writer. He also penned lyrics and stories for several of his films. One such film he scripted was Anil Sharma’s 2010 film Veer, which failed at the box office. Recently, the filmmaker stated that he believed the film’s problematic climax was a major factor in its failure.
When Anil Sharma, the director of Gadar, stated that he would direct a film starring Salman. Because fans were eager to watch their collaboration. However, they were left unsatisfied. In a recent interview, Anil was asked about the film’s failure, stating that the film’s conclusion contributed to it.
Sharma stated that he put much effort into the picture and believes it is his best work to date. However, he felt that the film’s climax, which depicted a confrontation between father and son, was ineffective. The filmmaker revealed that the climax was based on the original script of the film and said, “Woh baap aur bete kyu lad rahe hai, mujhe hamesha se hi lagta tha, woh Salman sahab ka apna subject tha kahani thi woh chahte father and son lade.” (I used to wonder why the father and son were fighting, but the story was written by Salman Khan, who wanted the fight to take place.)
Anil described his conversation with Tiger 3 actor’s father, Salim Khan, who concurred and stated that there can be no tension between father and son. Still, the Gadar 2 director strove hard to include a Ramayana allusion to make the climax appear reasonable, but he couldn’t persuade himself.
Furthermore, the Suhaag filmmaker claimed that they had developed a story for a new climax for the film. However, they went with the original climax, and he believes the film would have performed better without it.
He said, “Last ke.15 20 minute picture ke bohot khich gaye the, woh hi ek reason ban gaya.” (In the end, the film got stretched for 15 to 20 minutes, and it became a reason for the film’s average performance at the box office.)
Veer, released in 2010, stars Salman Khan, Mithun Chakraborty, Jackie Shroff, Zareen Khan, and Sohail Khan in prominent parts.
