IPL 2025 Impacts Bollywood: Release Dates Extended

Ever since films started releasing on OTT, releasing films in theaters has become a big challenge. Taking a look at the release calendar for the year 2025, you will realize that the next three months are going to be tough for the film industry. The difficult phase for the film industry is also due to the Indian Premier League (IPL). The date of many films to be released in April has been extended as they realised that the IPL 2025 impacts bollywood films.


Bollywood release dates extended:

Jolly LLB 3: The release of Akshay Kumar and Asad Warsi’s film ‘Jolly LLB 3’ has also been extended. Now this film will be released on August 3.

Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari: Filmmaker Karan Johar’s film ‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari,’ starring Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor, will be released on September 12. The film was scheduled to be released on April 18.


‘Metro In Dinon’: This film was scheduled to be released on November 29 at the end of last year. But this film will be released on 4 July 2025. It is reported that the filmmakers were looking for the right time for its release.

Films releasing on time:

However, meanwhile, there is news that the release date of the film ‘Phule,’ based on Mahatma Jyotirao Phule, will not be extended. According to the film’s director, Anant Mahadevan, ‘April 10 is the 197th birth anniversary of Mahatma Jyotirao Phule. So we will release our film on that date.’

Do they work?

Fans are very clear with their choice during this period. If there is to choose between a bollywood film or T Indian Premier League (IPL) is going to start on March 22. People of India definitely choose themselves with films and IPL. In such a situation, people will get a thrill from IPL for one and a half months. Therefore, the filmmakers have decided to extend the release date of their films. IPL will end on May 25 to make their films work at the theatres and to avoid loss.
