Salman Khan backing Pakistan: Bollywood star Salman Khan has caused online ire after it was reported that he posted a remark on the India-Pakistan ceasefire on May 10, only to delete it within minutes. Screenshots of the supposed post have been circulating on social media, spreading rumors over his reaction to the recent geopolitical tensions.
As per the going-viral photos, Khan had seemingly written, “Thank God for the ceasefire,” which meant relief over the current situation. But then the message was deleted, leading to doubts if it was a slip, misread, or a reaction to public outcry.
As gossip ran amok, India Today explained that it was not able to confirm the post’s authenticity. Khan’s last known action on X (formerly Twitter) was on April 28 when he posted poolside photos.
The post received a divided response online. Critics condemned Khan for failing to mention Indian soldiers’ sacrifices, but only responding to the ceasefire. Others questioned whether the post was sympathetic towards Pakistan, or others came to the defense of the actor. Citing that his words were simply expressing relief at peace being an option.
Ceasefire was announced amid intensified military actions over several days. With Indian Operation Sindoor on Pakistan-based terror launchpads being among them. It is stated that the treaty had been allegedly made through the exchange of diplomacy by top authorities’ representatives for each side.
