Actor-MP Kangana Ranaut and lyricist-screenwriter Javed Akhtar have reached a consensual settlement to end their five-year court battle for defamation. By posting a picture of herself with Javed on social media, Kangana declared their reconciliation.

Kangana posted a joyful photo of herself and Javed on her Instagram account. She said, “Today, Javed ji and I have resolved our legal matter (defamation case) through mediation. Javed ji has been very kind and gracious in the mediation, and he also agreed to write songs for my next directorial,” in addition to the post.

In the year 2020, Javed Akhtar brought a slander suit against Kangana Ranaut. He claimed that Kangana made disparaging remarks on both domestic and foreign television. Javed had brought up an interview that Kangana had done following the passing of actor Sushant Singh Rajput.

Kangana had also complained against Javed, claiming that he had invaded her personal and engaged in extortion and outraged modesty.

“Once Javed Akhtar called me to his house and told me Rakesh Roshan (father of Rithik Roshan) and his family are very big people,” Kangana Ranabut told a news program for those who were unaware. You won’t have anywhere to go if you don’t apologize to them. They will lock you up, and finally the only way out is to go to ruin—you will kill yourself.
