FIR Against Kesari 2 Makers: Two months after its theatrical debut, Bollywood star Akshay Kumar’s film Kesari Chapter 2 encountered further difficulties. According to the media report, the movie has been the subject of a First Information Report (FIR) for allegedly “insulting” and misrepresenting historical facts about West Bengal and its independence movement.
FIR Against Kesari 2 Film:
Ranajit Biswas, a resident of Bidhannagar South, reportedly filed a police complaint against Kesari Chapter 2. The film, which premiered on April 18, is currently streaming on Jio Hotstar. Biswas, who lives in Nabapally, Sector IV, alleged that the movie misrepresents freedom fighters Khudiram Bose and Barindra Kumar Ghosh in a courtroom scene related to the Muzaffarpur Conspiracy Case.
According to his complaint, the film portrays Khudiram Bose and Barindra Kumar as Amritsar natives named “Khudiram Singh” and “Birendra Kumar.” He claimed that this kind of distortion, especially regarding Khudiram Bose, who was executed, and Prafulla Chaki, who died by suicide, is an “insult” to Bengal and the freedom fighters who led its independence movement. Biswas further argued that such inaccuracies spread false information and risk igniting language and regional tensions. Authorities have registered the case under sections 353(1)(c) (public mischief), 353(2) (circulating false statements), and 352 (intentional insult) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). So far, the filmmakers have not responded to the allegations.

Kesari Chapter 2:
Kesari Chapter 2 serves as the spiritual follow-up to the 2019 historical action film Kesari. The sequel stars Akshay Kumar, R Madhavan, and Ananya Panday. Director Karan Singh Tyagi draws inspiration from Raghu and Pushpa Palat’s book The Case That Shook the Empire, focusing on the lesser-known legal and psychological aftermath of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre and centering the story on C. Sankaran Nair.
The film earned ₹7.75 crore on its opening day at the domestic box office, marking a solid start. Despite facing competition from Sunny Deol’s Jaat and Emraan Hashmi’s Ground Zero, it gradually gained traction at the ticket window. Cape of Good Films, Leo Media Collective, and Dharma Productions backed the project as producers.
