Kiran Rao Reveals The Thoughtful Process Behind Her Divorce. Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao have remained close friends and continue to work together creatively even after their divorce in 2021. Kiran recently disclosed that little arguments were promptly settled in their marriage, with no significant difficulties. “We knew there was too much to save in our relationship,” she said, adding that they ensured their son Azad never experienced any emotional fallout.
Kiran Rao discussed her breakup with Aamir Khan in a recent interview with Filmfare, saying it was a calm and easy process requiring patience and understanding.
She clarified that they had carefully cultivated their marriage for many years and that they had even given considerable consideration to their divorce decision. While they did have differences from time to time, Rao disclosed that they were usually minor and settled in a matter of hours, comparing them to the type of arguments one might have with parents.
Rao made it clear that their separation was not sudden but rather like carefully untying a rope, providing closure and preserving their family’s emotional stability, especially that of their son Azad. In order to protect Azad from the emotional effects of their divorce, she described how they collaborated to create a solid support network for him.
Kiran Rao, the director of Laapataa Ladies, described Khan as her friend, mentor, and steadfast support system in an open statement. There are times when he can be frustrating, but he has always been a source of strength, she admitted.
As she thought back on their relationship, she emphasized how crucial it is to concentrate on the good things. “It’s about what you choose to hold on to: do you want to keep the bad vibes or what worked for many years?” she clarified. Rao revealed that they decided to split ways amicably to maintain the positive aspects of their relationship and let go of the things that didn’t work.
Kiran described herself as “happily divorced” and added that she and Aamir still view each other’s families as their own. She also mentioned that Aamir’s mother, Zeenat Hussain, is still her mother-in-law and that she still has a close friendship with his kids, Junaid Khan and Ira Khan.
