Controversy over copyright notice on Kunal Kamra:
Famous stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra is once again embroiled in controversy. This time one of his parody videos has landed in trouble. Music company T-Series has sent him a notice accusing him of copyright infringement. Kamra shared a screenshot on his X (formerly Twitter) account and informed that YouTube has removed his video under copyright rules. Expressing displeasure over this, he said, “Parody and satire come under fair use. I did not use the lyrics or music of the original song. If my video can be removed, then every cover song and dance video should also be removed.”

Kunal Kamra further said that every big business in India works like a “mafia.” He advised people to watch or download his video as soon as possible. His comment comes after he recently faced criticism for taking a dig at Maharashtra Deputy CM Eknath Shinde in his stand-up act. Shiv Sena workers expressed anger over this and on Sunday night vandalized Mumbai’s ‘Habitat Comedy Club,’ where Kamra’s show was held. The hotel management also faced a lot of trouble after this incident.
Kunal Kamra refuses to apologize:
Despite these controversies, Kunal Kamra has clearly refused to apologize. He said, “I will neither apologize nor hide in fear.” Late on Monday night, he issued a statement in his way and protested. Meanwhile, on the complaint of Shiv Sena MLA Murji Patel, Khar Police has registered a defamation case against 36-year-old Kunal Kamra.
Police action and future status
Reportedly, the police have asked Kamra to appear within a week. However, according to his Instagram bio, he is currently in Puducherry. This entire controversy has sparked a new debate on freedom of expression, satire, and copyright laws in India.
