Maddock Horror Comedy Universe Budgets vs Earnings: Can Thamma Stand Firm?

Maddock Horror Comedy Universe Budgets vs Earnings: Can Thamma Stand Firm?

Maddock Horror Comedy Universe Budgets vs Earnings: Combining humor with fear and folklore perfectly into a commercial formula, the Maddock Horror-Comedy Universe (MHCU) is the newest horror franchise emerging from Bollywood. Stree, released in 2018, was the first film to kick-start what is now a multi-action film universe-a series of interconnected supernatural tales that also feature some witty crossovers. With its 2025 release looming, the fans and trade experts have to get together as Thamma may in fact be the one to get a bit of unfavorable comparison going. The question now is, will the third movie do justice to the legacy it has inherited-or possibly even eclipse it? Let us evaluate how its predecessor fared with respect to budget and collections.

Maddock Horror Comedy Universe Budgets vs Earnings:

1. Stree: The Unforeseen Blockbuster.

The first Stree movie was made on a meager budget of Rs. 25 crores and became a rage globally grossing more than Rs. 180 crores. Together with humor and horror, it struck the world’s audience, with cash flowing into the coffers, thereby setting the tone for future films to come.

2. Bhediya: Filling Up The Folklore.

Bhediya was made with a budget costing Rs. 60 crore. It collected approximately Rs. 90 crore worldwide. Not a major hit, it stretched the mythology of the full universe and bridged ends to Stree thus keeping alive the intrigue for what is in store.

3. Munjya (2024): The Surprise Money-Maker.

Made with an average budget of ₹30 crores, Munjya has become the surprise sleeper hit of the year grossing ₹132 crore worldwide. The oddball folklore-inspired storyline and smart humor made it a fan favorite that cemented Maddock’s reputation in the genre.

4. Stree 2: Sarkate Ka Aatank (2024):

Stree 2 is the most ambitious entry to date with a budget of ₹120 crores and grossed an astounding ₹874 crores worldwide-highest ever for the franchise. This placed MHCU amongst the top brands in Bollywood.

5. Thamma (2025): The Next Big Gamble.

Presented by Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna, Thamma is Maddock’s most expensive venture costing ₹145 crore. While hush-hush reports have begun doing rounds claiming it will open to ₹18-20 crore, there is a long way to go before claiming even half the success-hitting plaintiff revenue region of ₹300 crores worldwide.
