Pankaj Tripathi Supports Deepika Padukone On 16-18 Work Hours

Pankaj Tripathi Supports Deepika Padukone On 16-18 Work Hours

The debate about reasonable work hours in Bollywood is gaining steam after Deepika Padukone left Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s film Spirit. The reason was allegedly due to her request for a shift of 8 hours. Now, actor Pankaj Tripathi Supports Deepika Padukone, calling for work-life balance and setting limits for the industry.

Bollywood Work Culture

Long working hours have been a reality in Bollywood for decades, with actors commonly spending 16- to 18-hour days on set. While this degree of commitment is impressive it raises questions about the mental and physical fitness of the actor.

What are the problems with long work hours?

Physical drain – Longer shifts come with a physical cost.

Personal time – There is no real chance to balance work time and family time.
Loss of productivity – Overworking tends to lead to burnout and a loss of effectiveness.

Deepika Padukone & Work Hours

Deepika Padukone also reportedly, requested an 8-hour workday for Spirit, saying structured schedules were needed. After this request Paramount rejected it and she left the project, This leads to discussion about whether Bollywood should formalize working time.

Industry Fast Reactions:

Mani Ratnam supported Deepika’s remarks, saying it was a fair request.
Ajay Devgn and Kajol also both supported reasonable work shifts.

Pankaj Tripathi Supports Deepika Padukone

Actor Pankaj Tripathi who adores work and life has discussed this topic. He says he is learning not to play along with excessive hours, and thinks that the actor should have control over boundaries.

Some of the things Tripathi says are: “I keep saying that I am on the route to say ‘no’ now. Because everyone should know where the boundary is – this is the line, anything above this, is a polite ‘no’. I mean, we made work hours extend. I mean, I am working for sixteen to eighteen hours, non-stop. In fact, I am saying the actor has left, the labourers are still waiting.”

“I am mean, at this point, you say, polite ‘no, this is all that we can do. This is all we set out to do, and we’ve done it. Thank you so much. everything else will do tomorrow.’

These quotes address a very important issue; namely whether Bollywood might consider changing, whether or not it should. The culture of work in the industry has to change. A strong work ethic is an important value in many cultures, but working beyond excessive hours can lead to physical and mental fatigue, stress, and illness.

Potential Implications
– Implement structured hours for work – like regimented work times embraced in Hollywood.
– Set some expectations for what actors will do – push actor to say ‘no’.
– Maintain mental health and physical health of all employees – and be sure this is reinforced in the work space .
