Is Dhurandhar Based on the Kandahar Hijack? Plot Revealed

Dhurandhar Plot Revealed: Dhurandhar, starring Ranveer Singh, is one of the most anticipated films. Although the movie’s trailer has already piqued everyone’s interest, narrative details have finally been made public. Recently, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) gave an ‘Adult Only – A’ certificate to Dhurandhar. When online users discovered that the certificate also alludes to the movie’s narrative, it also became viral on social media. It makes clear that the Kandahar Hijack in December 1999 is the main focus of the movie.

“Set against the backdrop of the IC-814 hijacking in 1999 and the 2001 Indian Parliament attack, the film follows India’s Intelligence Bureau Chief Ajay Sanyal, who crafts a daring and indomitable mission to infiltrate and dismantle a powerful terrorist network operating out of Pakistan. Sanyal enlists an unusual ally to carry out this dangerous operation: a 20-year-old Punjabi boy who is being held captive for a crime motivated by retaliation. Recognising the boy’s potential and raw energy, Sanyal intends to develop him into a weapon capable of penetrating Karachi’s vicious underworld mafia,” the film’s plot, as outlined on the certificate, states.

It’s interesting to note that a series called “IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack” was also launched in 2024 and is presently available for viewing on Netflix. It stars Vijay Varma with Patralekha, Pankaj Kapur, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, and Dia Mirza among others.

In the meantime, Ranveer Singh and Sara Arjun play the main roles in the movie Dhurandhar. Fans are praising the Hollywood-level scale on which the plot is visualized, despite the fact that the movie is reportedly the most violent in Indian cinema. The film also includes Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, Akshaye Khanna, and R Madhavan in key parts.

The producers apparently intend to make Dhurandhar a two-part story, with part two being released in the first half of 2026, despite the fact that an official announcement has not yet been made. “There have been reports that Dhurandhar is a two-part saga. Hence, the picture, which will be released on December 5, will be the first installment. It’ll end at a pivotal point, and the story will then continue in the second portion,” a source close to the film told Bollywood Hungama recently. On December 5, 2025, Dhurandhar will be released in theaters.
