Ranveer Singh Reacts To Backlash: Just a couple of days preceding the much-anticipated release of his film Dhurandhar, actor Ranveer Singh unwittingly found himself embroiled in a culture-related controversy. The media outrage commenced after his IFFI performance, in which he tried to recreate an obscure yet energetic mount sequence inspired from Kantara – Chapter 1. The effect seemed not intended-for-onlookers-in-the-human-eye and cultural bodies itself were left with the feeling that his act misrepresented the whole sacredness of the very tradition. Ranveer’s apology drew mixed responses. He has since been praised for the sensitivity of his swift clarification, alluding to how the dramatization of culture in a different context often leads to misunderstandings, while others felt the actor should be careful with such sacred representations.
Regardless, his soothing note shepherded the online conversation toward calmer waters and back onto an impending focus: the release of his film.
Advance bookings for Dhurandhar are piling on already, but it seems that industry pundits are sure that the controversy will not primarily affect the film’s opening. Some even go as far as to say the limelight might serve to increase its visibility during this Key pre-release part of the cycle.
