Ravi Kishan Almost Got Killed By His Father for doing THIS. Even though Ravi Kishan is now a well-known politician and actor, he had many difficulties as a child. In a recent interview, Ravi recounted a childhood episode in which his mother gave him some money and ordered him to leave their village after his father beat him with a leather belt.
According to Ravi, he would frequently play the part of Sita in his neighborhood Ramleela. At one point, his father discovered this and beat him with a leather strap. His skin was beginning to rip from the severity of the beating. At the time, Ravi was just 14 or 15 years old. With Shubhankar Mishra, in a talk, he recalled, “I used to participate in Ramleela and I used to play Sita ji’s role. My father came to know about it one day. I had taken my mother’s saree. Along with a few more people, I was rehearsing my role all day. My father came to know about it and when I returned home he beat me up with a leather belt. I remember the way he whipped me, my skin had almost peeled off. It felt like he had decided to silence me that night.”
According to Ravi, his father was a well-respected scholar in the neighborhood. According to him, his mother gave him Rs 500 the same evening and begged him to leave the village because she was afraid for his life. “My mother, that night, thought I’ll be killed so she handed me Rs 500 and said, ‘take the train and leave, or he’ll kill you. You run away.’ I was around 14-15 years old when I came to Mumbai in those situations,” he added.
Although Ravi’s film Laapataa Ladies was India’s official submission for the 2025 Academy Awards, it was not selected for the Oscars 2025 Best International Feature shortlist. He was last seen in Singham Again playing the role of home minister.
