Film Postpones Release
Sonakshi Sinha announced that her upcoming film Nikita Roy will now hit theatres on July 18, delayed from its planned June 27 premiere. Sonakshi shared the update on Instagram, highlighting a battle for screens and multiple high-profile releases. She added that the delay allows the film to “reach a wider audience.
Box Office Strategy
Producers and theatre exhibitors backed the change. They recommended avoiding clashes with four major films releasing in late June,Kajol’s Maa, Brad Pitt’s F1: The Movie and the Telugu mythological epic Kannappa. They felt Nikita Roy needed room to breathe at the box office. Even Sonakshi’s father, veteran actor Shatrughan Sinha, praised the decision. He said it made sense to avoid being “suffocated by the traffic.”
Nikita Roy marks the directorial debut of Sonakshi’s brother, Kussh S Sinha. The psychological thriller explores mysticism, paranoia, and fractured realities. Sonakshi stars as investigator Nikita Roy, flanked by Arjun Rampal, Paresh Rawal, and Suhail Nayyar. The film promises suspense, supernatural twists, and shocking revelations.
Producers originally scheduled the film for May 30 before moving it to June 27. They cited unspecified reasons. Filming wrapped in September 2022 across London and the UK. Writer Pavan Kirpalani (of Phobia fame) penned the script. The project streams a psychological edge with mainstream appeal.

The film is backed by Nicky and Vicky Bhagnani, Kinjal Ghone, Dinesh Gupta, Ankur Takrani, and Vipin Agnihotri. Partners include Kratos Entertainment, Nikita Pai Films, Baweja Studios, and Bliss Entertainment. Industry analysts see strong audience interest. One noted that late-June Bollywood is overcrowded, and Nikita Roy now gains vital headroom.
With a clear July 18 launch, the team gears up for aggressive marketing. They plan targeted promotions, strategic trailer drops, and cross-platform teasers. A second trailer and first song release will hit in early July. Analysts expect the film to build supernatural intrigue while showcasing Sonakshi’s versatile performance.
