Suriya’s upcoming Bollywood project takes a pause, Here’s why

The latest film Kanguva, starring Suriya – another attempt to provide a pan-Indian film – the Moon is used as a silent witness to the happenings. The film, set in the 1100s, follows Kanga or Kanguva, the prince of the island village of Perumaachi. He tries to shield his clan and a child whose father he murdered from an impending threat posed by a foreign invader. He manipulates a rival clan led by Udhiran (Bobby Deol). Fast forward to 2024, and Suriya plays Francis, a bounty hunter pursued by a child. This child looks like the one from the past. The Russians kidnapped this toddler for a brain-mapping experiment. Throughout the film, there are repeated glimpses of the Moon, quietly implying that it has remained a constant presence in both timelines. Suriya's upcoming Bollywood project takes a pause, Here's why

Kollywood actor Suriya’s highly anticipated Bollywood project Karna, directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, has been put on hold. Originally planned with a massive budget of 600 crores, the production is now delayed. The reasons behind this pause are yet to be disclosed, leaving fans eagerly awaiting updates. It is believed that Suriya’s biggest disaster ‘Kanguva’ is the reason. As this Pan Indian star faced backlash for his first ever pan Inian film, The makers are reportedly not ready to take risk with him for the next film. Suriya’s wife Jyothika’s reaction to the trolls on Kanguva added fuel to this rumours.

Jyothika responded to the trolls saying ” I’m surprised with the negative reviews from media and certain fraternities. As it’s not done by them to this high level for the most unintellectual big budget films I have seen earlier with age-old stories. Where women r stalked, double meaning dialogues r spoken and have the most over the top action sequences. N what about Kanguva’s positives? The women’s action sequence in 2nd half and the young boy’s love and betrayal for Kanguva? I think they forgot about the good parts while reviewing. Now this Makes me wonder largely whether one should ever read, listen or believe them after all!”
