Sushant Singh Rajput: Five years have passed since the untimely demise of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput. Sushant left this world on June 14, 2020, leaving his friends and fans in tears. Sushant was found dead in his Bandra residence in Mumbai. Reports after his death suggested that Sushant had been suffering from severe depression for months and that this may have led to his suicide. The news of the demise of the young actor, who treated everyone with a smile and love, has saddened not only Bollywood but also film lovers around the world. Sushant had managed to win many fans in a short time after entering the film industry. Sushant’s death at the age of 34 has completely shocked Bollywood. Drug cases and nepotism in Bollywood have come to light. Even after five years of Sushant’s memory, the mysteries still remain.


 

Life in movies and serials

Sushant made his mini-screen debut in the serial ‘Kiss Desh Mein Hai Mera Dil’ on Star Plus in 2008. The actor was called for an audition by a casting member from Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms, who had seen Sushant’s play. That audition was another turning point in Sushant’s life. Thus, he acted in ‘Kiss Desh Mein Hai Mera Dil’. Although Sushant’s character was dying at the beginning of the series, his short-lived performance established him in the hearts of the audience. In the later episodes, Sushant was brought in the form of a soul. That character had so many fans.


In June 2009, Sushant gained a lot of attention from the audience with the serial ‘Pavitra Rishta’. The character in that brought the actor to the big screen. Meanwhile, Sushant also participated in a dance competition called ‘Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa’. Sushant made his Bollywood debut with the film ‘Kai Po Che’. Sushant also won the Filmfare Award for Best Debut Actor that year with the film.

 

Sushant also gave excellent performances in the romantic comedy film ‘Shuddh Desi Romance’ and the action thriller ‘Detective Byomkesh Bakshi’. His guest role as Sarfaraz Yusuf in the satirical film ‘PK’, starring Aamir Khan and Anushka Sharma, was also very popular. Sushant also played Dhoni in the biopic of MS Dhoni, ‘MS Dhoni: The Untold Story’. The films Kedarnath and Chhichhore also received a lot of attention.

 

The reason why director Neeraj Pandey chose Sushant to play Dhoni in ‘MS Dhoni: The Untold Story’ was that Sushant is a humble and cool person like Dhoni. Director Neeraj Pandey himself had once spoken to the media about this. Neeraj Pandey had also said that Sushant Singh, who is a very hard worker, is a star similar to Dhoni in many ways. Sushant gave a great performance as Dhoni. The film also earned crores at the box office. Sushant Singh Rajput, a young talent who played many memorable roles in his film career of just seven years, passed away with many roles left to complete.

 

Death news that shocked Bollywood

The news of Sushant’s death came a week after Sushant’s former manager Disha Saline committed suicide. The death of the star, who was a good friend to everyone, brought tears to the eyes of the entire film world. Reports also emerged that the young actor was seeking treatment for clinical depression in the six months before his death. Sushant had started living in a flat in Bandra eight months before his death. His creative manager, a friend, and a housekeeper were with him. None of them expected Sushant to commit suicide.

 

That day, Sushant had spoken to his sister on the phone at around 9 am. After that, he also spoke to actor Mahesh Shetty, whom he had known since the beginning of his career. The two had acted together in the serial ‘Kiss Desh Main Hoga Mera Dil’. Sushant’s last conversation was with his close friend Mahesh. When the staff called for food at 10 o’clock, he did not open the door, so he called his sister and told her about it. When they arrived and opened the door, they saw Sushant hanging from the fan.

 

There were also reports that Sushant went into depression after his mother’s death. Sushant has always given credit for his success to his mother. Sushant has said in many interviews that the unexpected death of his mother, who was closest to him and shared his sorrows, left a huge void in his life.

 

Bollywood’s nepotism

The nepotism that exists in the Indian film industry, including Bollywood, became problematic with Sushant’s death. Celebrities came forward, pointing out that nepotism in the Hindi film industry led to Sushant’s death. Controversy ensued. Many celebrities later revealed the problems they had to face in the film industry. Even after five years of Sushant’s memory, the controversies that arose following the star’s death have not yet been resolved in Bollywood.

 

No agency has yet released a clear report on Sushant’s death. Lawyer Vikas Singh, appearing for Sushant’s family, says that the charge sheet has not been filed yet as there are many secrets in the death. He informed that everything happened in a closed room and Sushant’s family is patiently waiting for justice.

 

A symbol of confidence

Sushant Singh Rajput was a green man who was not afraid of failures and had reached the pinnacle of success in his career. This star had extraordinary confidence. When the time came when he did not get films, he would act in series and serials. If that did not work, he would do theater. When I started, I used to get 250 rupees for a play. I was happy even then. Because acting made me very happy. That’s why I’m not afraid of being fired,” Sushant had said in an old interview. This is why Sushant Singh’s family and friends are asking why he committed suicide.
