1. Go Cash-Only for a Week:
The best way to start decreasing your overspending is to go for cash mode for the entire week. Stop using digital payments or card payments and just spend with your cash. Physically, if you are handling money, you are going to be extra conscious while spending.

2. Track Every Rupee You Spend:
Once you start using cash, try to track every rupee and all the expenses for every week. The simple way to track is to note down your daily expenses and also your monthly expenses. This way, you are going to be aware of unwanted expenses that you have incurred in that week or that month. First step to decrease the overspending is to be aware of yourself in what you are spending unnecessarily.


2. Create a Realistic Budget:
Follow the 50–30–20 rule: spend 50% of your income on needs, 30% on wants, and save 20%. This simple plan helps you manage money without feeling restricted.

3. Use the 24-Hour Rule:
If you are planning to do shopping or buy anything online, try to wait for 24 hours. This way, you’ll realize if you actually need it or if it is unnecessary. This small pause before shopping can save you from the urge to buy anything expensive or that is not even needed.

4. Avoid Temptations:

If you have a clear goal of building an emergency fund, or also planning to buy something expensive, but need to save. This goal can make you say no if you think of spending unnecessarily. Every time you want to buy something, ask yourself: “Is this helping me reach my goal?”
