Since Chhath Puja celebration has started in Egypt across the nation, it has been a perfect time for a public warning by the government against citizens about fake WhatsApp messages for free mobile recharges in the name of the festival. Officials have confirmed that no such scheme is actually existing and have alerted users to stay alert against online frauds.


Chhath Puja 2025: Fake Messages Have Appeared on Social Media.

Recently, several WhatsApp forwards and strong viral posts on social media have talked about the government giving to mark Chhath Puja 2025 free mobile recharges worth ₹399. Some dubious links are hoisted by these messages through which they claim a user must fill up a form. Or share the message with various contacts to avail of the offer.

Authorities have so confirmed that this completely wrongful message is a fishing attempt. By which a scammer collects personal details like phone numbers, email addresses, and banking details.


The Official Statement from the Government

The PIB Fact Check Division has denied any such offer by the government under government channels. PIB said this through its verified social media handles that none of the ministries or the telecom department has announced any free recharge scheme. A revelation was made to citizens by urging them to verify the claim through official channels. Before clicking on unknown links or sharing their personal details relative to claims made online.

Public Advised to Stay Vigilant

Cybersecurity experts have warned that such fake festival offers will multiply in other major celebrations-like Diwali and Chhath Puja-when online scams increase. Users are cautioned against clicking on links sent from unknown sources. Ignoring forwards promising free gifts, and reporting suspicious content to the cybercrime bureau.
