Bad News for SBI Customers: Credit Card Payments to Get Costlier


SBI Credit Card Revised Charges: SBI Card announced changes to its fee schedule and other charges, which will take effect on November 1, 2025. According to SBI Card guidelines, it will apply the new fees to a limited number of transactions, including wallet loads and education payments.

Cardholders should regularly review the updated fee schedule to ensure timely payments and avoid any unexpected deductions, keeping their credit records in good standing.


SBI Fees for Educational Payments: Via Third-party Apps

According to the SBI official announcement, payments for education done through third-party apps like CRED, Cheq, and MobiKwik will henceforth be subject to 1% on the transaction value.

SBI’s announcement has made it clear that this fee would not be applied to payments made directly to colleges, universities, or schools via its official websites or on-site point-of-sale devices.

SBI Fees for Wallet Load Transactions: Over Rs. 1000/-

SBI announced that it will charge a 1% fee on every wallet load transaction over Rs 1,000. This fee applies to transactions under certain merchant codes. SBI Card also announced that it will impose fees on education payments made through third-party merchants listed under Merchant Category Codes (MCC) 8211, 8220, 8241, 8244, 8249, and 8299.

SBI Cash Payment Fees:

From November 1st onwards SBI credit card is going to charge Rs. 250 as the cash payment fee.

SBI Payment Dishonour Fees:

If the customer’s payment gets dishonoured, SBI card is going to charge a dishonor fee of 2% of the payment amount. This is subject to a minimum of Rs. 500.

SBI Late Payment Charges on Minimum Amount Due:

Rs 0 – Rs 500: Nil

> Rs 500 – Rs 1,000: Rs 400

> Rs 1,000 – Rs 10,000: Rs 750

> Rs 10,000 – Rs 25,000: Rs 950

> Rs 25,000 – Rs 50,000: Rs 1,100

> Rs 50,000: Rs 1,300
