Dies Irae Box Office Collection: After an exclusive paid premiere on October 30, 2023, the wide release of the much-hyped horror thriller Dies Irae, starring Pranav Mohanlal and directed by Rahul Sadasivan, finally left the multiplexes on October 31. Jointly produced by Chakravarthy Ramachandra and S. Sashikanth under the banners of Night Shift Studios and Y Not Studios, the tagline for the film, “The Day of Wrath,” closely embodies the Latin title Dies Irae.
After the smash hit Bramayugam, Rahul Sadasivan, now back with the Night Shift Studios team yet again for another chilling cinematic experience. After record-opening collections over ₹11 crore globally on the first day and ₹18 crore cumulative over two days, it is needless to say, this is a huge feat for a Malayalam horror film.
In the views of the first audience reactions, Dies Irae presents an engaging horror-thriller with suspense, emotion, and psychological depth. With state-of-the-art visuals, atmospheric sound design, and an arrestingly employed score, this movie sets new standards for the genre. Carrying an A certificate, it is undoubtedly for an intense and mature audience.
Even before the release of the film, Cristo Xavier’s music established an eerie atmosphere with its marvellous score and haunting rhythm. Most notably, its theme song, “The Day of Wrath”, has already attracted the audience with haunting melodies and deep lyrics.
Jalal ISC with the camera, Shafique Mohammed Ali editing and sound designer Jayadevan Chakkadath held the technical fort. The art direction of Jyotish Shankar and VFX of Digibrix endowed the film with added layers of visual texture.
E4 Experiments distributes in Kerala whereas Think Studio looks after the rest of India except Karnataka. Prime Media USA looks after the U.S. distribution, with global release aided by Berkshire Dream House and Isanagi Films.
With engaging plotline, fabulous performances, and technical excellence, Dies Irae is one of the best horror thrillers in recent times in Malayalam cinema.
