Jatadhara Day 1 Box Office Collections: Sudheer Babu’s supernatural thriller Jatadhara released with decent buzz but ended with one of the weakest openings for the actor in recent times. The film offered an interesting mythological premise, and Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha was a factor, but despite that, not many came into theaters to watch it on Day 1.
As per early trade reports, Jatadhara managed to collect around ₹0.90 crore (India net) on its opening day across all languages. The film’s occupancy remained low throughout the day, averaging only around 13-15% even in major Telugu cities like Hyderabad, Vijayawada, and Vizag.
A poor run was attributed to the lack of an aggressive promotional campaign and a limited amount of awareness surrounding the film’s release. Also, competition from other festive releases along with mixed audience word of mouth hurt its cause further.
Directed by Venkat Kalyan, the film is about a ghost hunter, mythological curses, and ancient rituals. Early reviews suggest weak screenplay and poor execution crippled what might have been a solid concept.
While Sonakshi Sinha’s debut in the Telugu film industry intrigued many, her quick disappearance apparently rendered support for the film’s storyline being Hallelujah. Sudheer Babu performed well, but the critics pointed out the inconsistencies in pacing and technical aspects of the movie.
Compared to previous outings such as Hunt and Aa Ammayi Gurinchi Meeku Cheppali, Jatadhara appears to be opened lower. Just when an actor was yearning for a strong comeback, another bad box-office decision seems to have stepped in.
