Kantara Eyes Rs 700 Crore: More than a week under the belt in theatres, ‘Kantara Chapter 1’ definitely continues its success run at the international box office. This film by Rishab Shetty is very much in tune with audiences from all different backgrounds for its emotional and cultural richness that really brings it out. According to industry reports, the all-India gross of the film was ₹79 crore just over its second Friday and Saturday, clearly indicating that the film has a strong hold even in its second week.
With the collections rolling in high both from India and overseas, trade pundits are confident now that ‘Kantara Chapter 1’ is on its way to reach the ₹700 crore mark in worldwide gross. The recently released “Success Trailer”, basking in its glory to celebrate the long-awaited appreciation, has further increased the film’s momentum. Occupancy has remained impressive, from single screens to multiplexes-another indicator that the theatrical run has much longer to go.
Rishab Shetty directs and stars in this movie as Berme, whose role has been appreciated for its intensity as well as for its spiritual depth. Rukmini Vasanth features as Kanakavathi and Gulshan Devaiah plays Kulashekara. National-awarded actor Jayaram stands as an emotional powerhouse entering the Malayalam film industry. Everything adds to the story beautifully while making every frame affecting.
The incredibly enthralling score put up by B. Ajaneesh Loknath and breathtaking cinematography of Arvind S. Kashyap (ISC) have elevated the story to a whole new level. Co-writers Aniruddha Mahasiya and Shanil Gautham lend narrative depth which ends up making the screenplay engaging and layered.
