Kantara Chapter 1: Indian cinema has seldomly witnessed such anticipation ever preceding the release of any of its films. Kantara Chapter 1 literally created huge buzz language-wise and actually reflected in its advance bookings. When released, the film was up to expectations of the audiences and turned into record-breaking revenues at the box office. From the opening day, the film has kept going without breaks. The latest official figures have been revealed by the producers Hombale Films, which will cover the first two weeks of its worldwide run.
Kantara Chapter 1 has apparently grossed about ₹717.50 crore worldwide at the box-office as of October 15, following its release on October 2. Having been produced for about ₹125 crore, the film has achieved major commercial success in the Indian film industry to date. The daily average gross collection has stood as high as ₹51.25 crore, showing that the audience still remains interested. Trade analysts are now waiting excitedly to see the performance of the film on the Diwali weekend, though no recent movie has come with this kind of hype.
At present, Kantara Chapter 1 is the second highest-grossing Indian film for the year, next only to the Bollywood mega-hit Chhavi, and has a lifetime worldwide gross of ₹808 crore. So impressive is the pan-Indian appeal of the film, brought about by its acceptance in five different languages. Its original Kannada version alone has brought in a net collection of ₹155.7 crore from India, crunched from major trackers such as Sakalnik.
Kantara Chapter 1 is quite a huge asset for Kannada cinema, which has had very few blockbusters this year. The film’s success has regained interest in Kannada productions and shown that well-made content can indeed strike a nation-wide appreciation. Hombale Films’ epic creation not only met audience expectations but has established new benchmarks for Indian cinema in terms of reach and profitability.
