L2 Empuraan First Week Collection: Malayalam cinema superstar Mohanlal’s much-awaited film ‘L2 Empuraan’ was released in theaters on 27 March 2025. The film is a sequel to the 2019 blockbuster ‘Lucifer.’ Both films are directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran. Made on a huge budget of Rs 180 crore, the film has not been able to perform as expected at the box office till the seventh day.

The film received mixed responses

The film had a good opening of Rs 21 crore on the first day of its release, but after that the earnings declined continuously. Till the seventh day, the film has failed to earn well according to its budget. It still has a long way to go to become a hit. The film has received mixed responses from the audience and critics, the effect of which is visible on its collection.

Star Cast of L2: Empuraan

Talking about the star cast of the film, Mohanlal is in the lead role. Along with him, strong actors like Prithviraj Sukumaran, Tovino Thomas, Manju Warrier, Abhimanyu Singh, Indrajeet Sukumaran, and Suraj Venjaramoodu are also a part of the film. This is a political action thriller that revolves around the politics of Kerala. Prithviraj Sukumaran has not only directed the film but has also played an important role in it.

Domestic Collections

However, despite the brilliant star cast, the story and presentation of the film failed to impress the audience, which affected its box office performance. According to initial figures, ‘L2 Empuran’ collected Rs 4 crore 3 lakh in India on the seventh day. Now the total collection of the film has become Rs 82.73 crore, which is much less than its budget.

The Hindi version of the film has also not been able to cast a spell on the audience. The earnings of the film in Hindi-speaking states have been very disappointing. The film has grossed a total of ₹1.75 crore in this language in six days, with tough competition from Sikandar.
