The romantic comedy Loveyapa marks the first theatrical debut of Aamir Khan’s son. And also for Khushi Kapoor, the younger daughter of ace producer Boney Kapoor and legendary actress Sridevi. After making their acting debut on OTT platforms, they finally made it to their theatrical debut yesterday. The film received mixed reactions from the audience. Junaid Khan and Khushi Kapoor’s film Loveyapa has had a cold opening at the box office. According to the initial data received from Sacnilk, the film collected Rs 1.15 crore on its first day. ‘Loveyapa’ is the third film directed by Advait Chandan. Earlier, he made two films with Junaid’s father Aamir Khan. His first film ‘Secret Superstar’ was a super hit, which collected Rs 63.40 crore from the box office. This film was made on a budget of just Rs 15 crore. The second film was ‘Lal Singh Chaddha’. Aamir Khan played the lead role in this film. Made on a budget of 180 crores, the film collected Rs 61.36 crores.
The film Loveyapa marks the direct remake of the Tamil super hit film ‘Love Today’ which was directed by Pradeep Ranganathan who also played the lead role in the film. The romantic comedy “Love Today” emerged as the best and showcased Gen Z love in a beautiful way possible. Now Loveyapa was made palatable for the Hindi audience but the star kids’ performance in the film was underwhelming. Though there’s a beautiful story, the audience felt that the casting for Loveyapa ruined the essence of romantic comedy. Starting with the bare minimum of Rs 1.5 crore at the box office, the makers hope for a hike in the upcoming weekend.
