Mass Jatara Closing Box Office Collections: After creating lots of buzz with its title and festival vibe, the Mass Jatara project with Ravi Teja finally clapped out its theatrical run. Expectations and promotions notwithstanding, the film has become one of the recent worst performers of the actor in box office history.
Once the Mass Jatara project was announced, people were expecting nothing but a typical Ravi Teja entertainer-s-undiluted energy, punch dialogues, and commercial elements. The first day witnessed good occupancy but somehow, the collections began to dip with mixed word-of-mouth along with some serious competition from other releases.
Mass Jatara is reported to have done ₹15 crore-net in India, which constitutes one of its lowest closing figures in an age, so low for a Ravi Teja movie.
The film did the best in the circuit of Telangana, particularly in Hyderabad and Warangal, where the loyal fan base of Ravi Teja saw reasonable crowding during the first weekend. But the film could not keep up steady in Andhra Pradesh and elsewhere, with attendance in the weekday shows plunging heavily.
The overseas performance wasn’t very encouraging either, as it failed to attract the Telugu diaspora, who normally enthusiastically support the films of Ravi Teja.
What went wrong in the film’s performance across the box office can be attributed to several reasons:
Mixed word-of-mouth: While Ravi Teja’s performance received appreciation, he played in a boring, badly written story.
Poor competition: The likes of Aaryan and Dies Irae stole away considerable portions of the target audience.
Poor second-week holding: The film could not manage to carry even a minor momentum beyond its first weekend.
A mass-market closure of ₹15 crore means that Mass Jatara joins the list of below-par box-office performances for Ravi Teja. Great energy and charm from him-sadly-do not seem to have helped this movie, as it totally lacked substance and did not have very strong repeat value. The fans are now hopeful that his next project will retrieve the glorious Mass Maharaja magic!
