The Girlfriend Box Office Collections Day 1: Rashmika Mandanna’s newest Telugu romantic drama The Girlfriend started its opening day with a bang in theaters, only to leave audience members feeling unimpressed by its early box office collection. Though the hype before the release was massive and quite convincing in emotional storytelling, the figures on the box office opening day hinted that the movie was weak during the launch of this entry for the star actress.
As per early trade estimates, The Girlfriend took around ₹1.30 crore (Indias net) for its Day 1 collections across all languages. Fair occupancy was reported from major cities like Hyderabad and Bengaluru, but the film fell short at mass circuits.
Occupancy started at an average of around 12-15% in morning shows, and after having improved slightly by the evening because people’s word-of-mouth traction kept going, compared with other releases by Rashmika, this performance is on the low side; in fact, marking one of her slowest openings in recent years.
The Girlfriend has raised future interest for its peculiar emotional concept; it is a movie that shows Rashmika’s great capture of the heart of Bhooma. However, less promotional activity and limited theatre reach may help to keep it from shooting high on opening.
Trade analysts believe that while its emotional resonance will connect directly with the audiences for whom it is intended, it may not be able to pull the kind of open audiences usually drive to a large launch. The matters of this weekend will be crucial to see if The Girlfriend has any chance of receiving pickups from encouraging audience reactions.
To give context, Rashmika’s previous hits such as Geetha Govindam and Pushpa had opened to better initial collections, thanks to their growing appeal and mass-friendly tale presentation. The Girlfriend, however, traces a more personal, drama-laden route, which would ideally start to be acknowledged in the long run rather than immediately.
