Tollywood superstar Nandamuri Balakrishna (NBK) and director Boyapati Sreenu are famous for their blockbuster hits like Simha, Legend, and Akhanda. Fans eagerly awaited their latest project, Akhanda 2: Thaandavam, but the film’s release date was recently pushed back. NBK spoke to the media in his hometown Nimmakuru and cleared the air on why the delay happened.
Akhanda 2 was initially scheduled to release on September 25, 2025. However, Balakrishna confirmed that the movie will now hit theaters in the first week of December. The exact date will be announced soon. This new schedule also helps avoid a clash with Pawan Kalyan’s much-anticipated film OG, which was set for the same time.
One key reason for the delay is the film’s music. Composer Thaman, who worked on the original. Akhanda, asked for extra time to create the score for the sequel. Balakrishna explained that since Akhanda 2 is much bigger in scale, the soundtrack needs to be equally powerful. “The sequel will be 50 times bigger than the first,” he said, adding that the sound system in theaters will blow fans away.
Besides the music, post-production work and some finishing touches are still pending. The makers want to ensure the movie is perfect before release. Balakrishna said the decision to postpone was to give the team enough time to complete everything with quality.
