Vijay Deverakonda Fees for Kingdom: Once considered the top star of Telugu cinema, Vijay Deverakonda has somewhat set by fickle winds. The box-office-tame antics in Liger, Kushi, and The Family Star. Somewhat lightened the load on his commercial viability, while preparations for the Kingdom’ premiere on July 31, 2025. They are on in full swing, with the actor being in the news for something else-for not taking full pay.
Sources say that Vijay has accepted only a nominal token fee for Kingdom. As opposed to a traditional fixed fee, he chose a profit-sharing model whereby he receives a fee only if the film is a commercial success. This is probably an adventurous choice since this is a high-budget film with production costs expected to be around ₹130 crore.
The intention behind such a move is more than some trivial show of respect; it is a smart act. By withholding his full fee, Vijay has unburdened a fair amount of money that could be directed for production value, marketing, and visual effects. Such a selfless surfacing in this day and age, where even mega-budget films are being examined. Would solely showcase how much commitment and confidence he felt towards the project.

This is not the first time he put people before money. It is said he returned a whopping amount after Liger to compensate the distributors’ losses. That experience probably somehow made Vijay look at Kingdom through a mature entrepreneurial lens.
Forgoing his advance salary must mean that Vijay sees Kingdom as his calling card back. If this film indeed walks away with the money. It might actually have been the real resurrection of his market image. And an eye kick for all stars on the day they actually need to learn from their own fate in their respective films.
