Did Vijay Deverakonda’s Kingdom Copy Jigra? Full Analysis Inside

Vijay Deverakonda’s Kingdom Copy Jigra: As Kingdom gears up for its release on 31 July 2025, comparisons have surfaced on social media, with some viewers claiming it resembles Alia Bhatt’s Jigra (released in October 2024). While both films explore deep emotional bonds and protection between loved ones, they do so in very different cinematic universes.

Jigra: An Emotional Sibling Saga

Released on 10 October 2024, Jigra tells the story of Satya, a brave young woman trying to protect her younger brother Ankur after experiencing the trauma of their father’s suicide. The film dives into themes of mental health, urban isolation, and sibling sacrifice, portraying the heartfelt journey of a sister fighting against all odds to save her brother from danger. The emotional core and real-world setting made Jigra widely appreciated for its depth and sensitivity.

Kingdom: Brotherhood in the Midst of War

Kingdom, on the other hand, is set against the backdrop of an intense war by the sea. Where countless lives are lost on both sides. The film follows Siva (Vijay Deverakonda) and Suri (Satya Dev), two men who share a powerful, brother-like bond formed through pain, loss, and survival. Their relationship is tested through the brutality of war, resilience, and sacrifice. Though the film does explore the theme of brotherhood, it does so within a vastly different. War-torn setting far removed from Jigra’s emotionally intimate world.

Shared Themes, Distinct Stories

Both Jigra and Kingdom portray deep bonds and protection, but the tone, plot, and characters are unique. While Kingdom may evoke similar feelings of loyalty and sacrifice, it is not a copy of Jigra it offers a completely different narrative experience.

Inspiration Isn’t Imitation

Despite thematic echoes, Kingdom stands on its own as a war-driven drama about chosen brotherhood, not familial protection. The similarities are coincidental, not copied.
