Rumors have gone viral that either Anurag Basu’s untitled movie with Kartik Aaryan and Sreeleela has been overhauled or reshot because its story is too similar to that of Mohit Suri’s blockbuster Saiyaara. Both storylines revolve around a musician whose love life ends up in disarray. Is Anurag Basu Re Shooting Kartik Aryan, Sreeleela Movie After Saiyaara?
After the roaring success of Saiyaara, comparisons with Anurag Basu’s alleged Aashiqui 3 starring Kartik Aaryan and Sreeleela surfaced. Both narratives revolved around intensely musical love sagas, leading fans to believe that Basu’s movie would harbor similar emotional arcs, especially with a rockstar at the center of focus. Such comparisons reached the level of script reworking or reshoot rumors. Nevertheless, Anurag Basu brushed off such claims, assuring that the film could stand on its own storyline and mood, quite apart from Saiyaara.
Though, Anurag Basu has refuted all these allegations. In various interviews, including one with India Today, he added: “There is nothing artistic about the delay. It’s purely a case of scheduling.” He contended: “The only similarity is that the male lead is a rockstar… the stories themselves are completely different.” “In my film, the girl doesn’t have dementia or any other condition… we are not re-writing or re-shooting.”
Kartik Aryan And Sreeleela Movie:
Latest reports suggest that nearly 40% of the movie has already been shot. The rest of the schedule that was meant for August–September 2025 post-scheduled ‘Tu Meri Main Tera’ shooting with Kartik was delayed, and Basu was busy promoting Metro… In Dino.
And, rather than being set for Diwali 2025, the release has now shifted to early 2026.

But, then again, not reshooting or rewriting Kartik Aaryan–Sreeleela because of Saiyaara would meanthat the physiological delay is logistical as the entire project is firm on its way, such as holding on to its emotional tone and its very own distinct narrational identity.
