Kaantha Teaser: Dulquer Salmaan is reputed for versatility, powerful screen presence, and now journeys back in time to take audiences to another dimension through his forthcoming film Kaantha. The teaser for the period drama has been released, and the buzz across social media now seems intense. Having starred in Sitaram and Kurup, Dulquer has performed creditably in vintage-era films. But will Kaantha measure the paradigm or even exceed the expectations therein?
This is Kaantha’s introductory teaser, showcasing Dulquer Salmaan as never before. The 2 minutes and 12 seconds of nostalgic yet morbidly emotional teaser have that’s where cinematic history collides on personal transformation.
Kaantha seems to travel space by a nearly forgotten age: the early years of South Indian cinema, the saga centering on perhaps the first horror film made of the region. Dulquer plays the son of an intense filmmaker and writer, Samuthirakani. While the father chases the artistic dream, the time crystallizes within emotional and ideological gaps with the son.
Years later, fate intervenes again and unites them together for a project, which would forever change the game. Behind the scenes forever, the father has a son, a superstar in his own right, who took out a contract to make a horror film with all the possible scares but one therapeutic closure.
The teaser shows Dulquer literally straddling two worlds: that of an actor playing a role and a son who reconnects with a long-lost bond. The transition, from a renegade character to one who is much more accepting of what his father has envisioned of him, is understated yet very powerful. Raw colors, dim lighting, and elusive editing give the teaser an extremely moody and disturbing feel, pulling the audience in.
