Kapil Sharma’s dramatic weight loss surprised many fans. His fitness coach, Yogesh Bhateja, recently shared insights into how Kapil transformed his body and mindset. Known for training celebrities like Farah Khan and Sonu Sood, Bhateja emphasized a simple but effective method called the ‘21 21 21’ rule.
The fitness expert explained that many people don’t focus on fitness because they lack awareness. In Indian homes, breakfast often includes buttered bread with tea or snacks like samosas and parathas. Outside, people eat without thinking. But real change begins when you track what you eat, monitor water intake, and pay attention to your body’s signals.
The ‘21 21 21’ rule breaks weight loss into manageable 21-day phases. This method prevents burnout and builds sustainable habits. Bhateja said this approach works best for beginners and helps avoid the overwhelm of drastic changes.
The initial phase focuses on moving your body gently. Bhateja recommends doing stretches every day for 21 days. He recalls physical training (PT) exercises from school as a great starting point. This phase doesn’t require diet changes eat what you like, even sweets like jalebis, and just move your muscles daily.
The second phase involves small diet changes, not strict restrictions. Bhateja advises against cutting carbs or calories abruptly. Instead, shift habits that cause discomfort, like drinking milk at night or consuming excessive sugar in tea. Swap milk to mornings, reduce jaggery portions, and control tea sugar. These tweaks improve digestion and energy levels without harsh dieting.
Final 21 Days: Control Unhealthy Habits
The last phase targets emotional dependencies on smoking, drinking, and caffeine. Bhateja stresses controlling not necessarily quitting immediately these habits that offer no real health benefits.

Bhateja explained, “Focusing on one goal every 21 days builds an attitude without pain or pressure. After 62 days, you stand motivated in the gym on day 63.” This gradual, mindful approach helps people accept change and feel real progress. By day 42, you notice results, which fuels your drive to improve further.
This method fits perfectly with Kapil Sharma’s journey, allowing him to lose weight steadily without shock to his body or mind. Bhateja’s rule teaches beginners to modify lifestyle thoughtfully, making fitness a lasting habit rather than a struggle.
