Karuppu First Look: The makers released the first glimpse of actor Suriya’s upcoming action-drama Karuppu ahead of his fiftieth birthday. They will release the film’s teaser on July 23, 2025, which marks his birthday. The latest Karuppu poster shows Suriya wearing a black shirt, matching lungi, and aviators. He enjoys a cigar while striking a bold pose that reflects swagger and style. Dream Warrior Pictures, the production house, shared the first look on X. They wrote, “With enormous love and respect, we wish @Suriya_offl sir an early Happy Birthday! The ‘Karuppu’ teaser will be released tomorrow at 10 AM to celebrate in style.”

RJ Balaji directs the film. The team previously shared the first “Karuppu” poster on Balaji’s birthday. The poster showed Suriya against a dark background with his face hidden. The silhouette revealed a man holding what appears to be a sword. The makers originally planned the poster to unveil the official title of the film. They initially referred to it as “Suriya 45,” a provisional title. The official X post announced, “With pride and excitement, we present the title of ‘Suriya 45’: ‘KARUPPU.'” The post added that the name reflects heart, spirit, and purpose, capturing the core of the story.

Critics gave mixed reviews to Retro, Suriya’s latest film. Suriya, who played Paarivelkannan, carried the film with his impressive range of expressions. Director Karthik Subbaraj gave him the space to showcase his talent and versatility. However, Suriya struggled to elevate a film that ran longer than it should have. Karthik Subbaraj promoted Retro as a romantic film. Up next, Suriya will star in Suriya 46, written and directed by Venky Atluri. Radhika Sarathkumar, Raveena Tandon, and Mahita Baiju play key roles in this Sithara Entertainment production.
