Backed by enthused promotions, even Bollywood star power could not save the day for a movie hampered by bad writing, shoddy execution, and sky-high marketing. That level of disappointment did not only crush the hopes of fans but also put a dent in Vijay’s imposition on the Hindi market. The colossal flop of Liger quietly lurks behind him as he ponders his career trajectory.
Kingdom: Rebirth Or Universally Foretold Fall?!
Now, Kingdom appears to be the shot he is looking for, in other words, for redemption. A fantasy-action drama with strong visuals and a more consistent promotional strategy is now garnering most of the attention. The trailer and teaser highlight an emotionally evocative performance and go into somewhat unique world-building direction, but whether this film can fare with audiences where Liger failed is a huge doubt!
So far, with advance bookings of Rs. 1.75 crore, Kingdom has had a pleasant start, especially in light of Liger’s shadows. Initial traction has been reasonable in the Telugu states, with even near-full houses for early morning shows in Hyderabad, Guntur, and Vizag. The Hindi belt is sluggish, though it is faring better than Liger’s initial battery of advance sales, which really did little to put the film on a Saturday screen.

Having Rs. 1.75 crore already in the bag from advance bookings, Kingdom has made a promising first step. But as Liger taught us, the day you break records does not guarantee the same for the days to come. Now, all eyes are on content. Will Kingdom rule hearts or repeat history?
