Navya Nair Fined ₹1.14 Lakh at Melbourne Airport: Here’s Why

Navya Nair Fined ₹1.14 Lakh at Melbourne Airport: Here’s Why

Navya Nair: Where is the irony in this, Amma? Will you really be fined for carrying jasmine flowers? Don’t say you’ve never heard of it or seen it. It’s true that some countries have such rules. Malayalam actress Navya Nair recently attended an Onam celebration in Australia. For Onam, a white saree and jasmine flowers are a must. Without them, the festival feels incomplete. That’s why Navya carried jasmine flowers from India.

Why did Navya Nair Fined ₹1.14 Lakh?

Australia’s Melbourne Airport is one of the strictest airports. If you don’t follow the rules here, you will be fined heavily. Carrying fruits and flowers is strictly prohibited because authorities believe their smell can cause diseases and allergies. But Navya Nair carried jasmine flowers in her bag, which were found during checking. As a result, customs officials fined her Rs. 1.14 lakh for breaking the rules. With no choice, Navya paid the fine and went to the event. She later revealed this incident at the celebration. By that calculation, the cost of just three jasmine flowers turned out to be Rs. 1.14 lakh. This news has now gone viral on social media.
