Param Sundari Opening Day: Will It Outshine Saiyaara at Box Office?

Param Sundari Box Office: The word-of-mouth for this spunky rom-com Bollywood film about to be released is bright and swell: with a star-studded ensemble cast, hip bright songs, and a youthfully breezy storyline. It is drawing interest at the multiplexes as I write this. The expectations of its entry are now being discussed among fans and trade pundits: Will Param Sundari open up to the same level, as big as last year’s surprise blockbuster, Saiyaara?

The Saiyaara Benchmark

The year 2024 was bowled over by the opening-day collection of ₹21 crores by the film, now christened Saiyaara, and practically to put new standards for mid-budget oriental historical rom-com. Among dozing charms were its catchiest kinds of music, the virality through social media, and the thunderous applause from family audiences to be able to transcend everything in between. Hence, every film of the same genre is compared with any of them; in this case, however, it goes with Param Sundari too.

It is being marketed consistently, but not in a way that could trigger a frenzy and become the reason behind huge first-day openings.

Certainly, Param Sundari provides a nice, enjoyable rom-com hour. Still, we don’t think it will mop the floor with Saiyaara when it comes to box office collections. At least on the opening day. Expected collections are somewhere around ₹10 crore. Hence the film must work word of mouth and sustain its momentum through the weekend to make up for it. And, by the way, Saiyaara still remains the opening yardstick for rom-coms in Bollywood.
