Pawan Kalyan Depression Phase: In a recent interview following the Hari Hara Veera Mallu success meet, Pawan Kalyan candidly spoke about the difficult phase he experienced after the release of his film Johnny. He reflected on how he coped with the failure, what he learned from it, and how it impacted his political journey.
“It wasn’t heartbreak,” Pawan said. “It was a moment of realization and a point of reference. I’m not someone who easily gets depressed. I believe we must remain eternally grateful for life. Whenever I feel low, I simply look at my hands and remind myself, I’m alive, I have the strength to do more, and I feel grateful to God.”

He added that while Johnny brought him financial losses, it never pushed him into depression. “Rather than sulking, I focus on my mistakes. I reflect on what went wrong. The reason I don’t get depressed is that I see life itself as a gift. I only get irritated when work doesn’t get done even after I’ve made my point.”
Pawan also shared that after his early string of hits, people around him began pressuring him to direct a film. “Everyone started saying, ‘You’ve achieved stardom, how can you not direct?’ But I knew I lacked the experience in filmmaking.”
Despite his hesitation, he eventually agreed and received strong support, until the film was released and failed at the box office. “After the film flopped, everyone disappeared. Distributors began demanding refunds. That’s when I felt disappointed, not because of the losses, but because of the selfishness I witnessed. It made me question society and people’s intentions.”
