For Salman Khan fans, Eid is incomplete without a blockbuster. But 2026 may change that. His much-talked-about war drama, Battle of Galwan, was earlier set to release on Eid al-Fitr in mid-March. Now, sources confirm that the makers are eyeing Bakri Eid instead.
This move breaks Khan’s long-standing Eid tradition. The reason? Logistics.
Battle of Galwan will recreate the 2020 India-China military clash in Ladakh. It’s being directed by Apoorva Lakhia and produced by Salman himself. The film involves high-altitude shooting and large-scale action.
A trade insider explains, “This is a massive war film. Shooting in Ladakh is already tough. Add action and scale it becomes logistically intense. The team doesn’t want to rush.”
The challenge lies in the terrain and timeline. Filming in extreme conditions takes time. Post-production too will demand careful detailing.
Right now, the focus is only on the shoot. Lakhia is expected to begin filming in August. The new target is Bakri Eid, which falls on May 27, 2026. Sources say this date is realistic and gives the team breathing space.
A distribution insider adds, “The team is already in talks with exhibitors. If Bakri Eid slips, Independence Day weekend is next.” That’s August 15. But the aim remains May.
Interestingly, Kartik Aaryan’s Naagzilla had already eyed this slot. However, with that project yet to roll, Galwan may take over.

The release date will be officially locked by the end of this year. Until then, fans can expect updates once the shoot starts. One thing is clear that Battle of Galwan won’t be rushed. The makers want scale, precision, and a release date that does justice to the subject.
