Hollywood: Ridley Scott recently made sensational comments on modern films of Hollywood and in global space, he said they are declining in quality output. “Nowadays millions of films are being made throughout the world and most of them are complete shit. I am forced to re-watch some of my older films”. He said this during an interview conducted by BFI(British Film Institute)

Mediocrity

During this same questioning he was asked about his go-to comfort film, for it he said “Well, actually right now I am finding mediocrity, we are drowning in mediocrity. And so what I do…it’s embarrassing, but i have started watching my own movies, they are pretty good and also they don’t age”

He said “I watched Black Hawk Down the other night and I thought, ‘How in the hell did I manage to do that?’ But I think occasionally a good film will come out and it’s like a relief that there’s somebody out there who is trying to make a good film”.

His masterpieces

Ridley Scott in his entire career made some blockbuster films, they not only worked wonders at the box office but on an artistic level they are great films. Some of the titles include “Alien”, “Blade Runner”, “Gladiator”, “Prometheus”, “American Gangster”, “Thelma and Louise”, “Black Hawk Down” and so on. Among these titles “Gladiator” is a global hit.   

Reasons for his success 

Ridley Scott said that most movies nowadays are saved by digital imagery, but on an emotional level everything is falling apart. This is because on paper these films are mediocre at best. This mistake is never done in his projects, he works with his writers very closely on each script, that is the main reason his films connect to audiences across the globe. 

His future projects

Ridley Scott is currently working on “The Dog Stars”, a post apocalyptic science fiction film. The film is scheduled for 2026 release. Apart from this he is trying to make the third installment of “Gladiator”. Well at 87 years old Ridley is working on back to back films, this is an inspiration for filmmakers across the world.
