Veteran composer and singer Anu Malik has spoken out for the first time about his relationship with his brothers Daboo Malik and Abu Malik, following growing rumours of tension within the Malik family. In an interview with a media house, Anu Mallik emphasized that their bond remains unbroken.
“Daboo and Abu are not just my brothers,” Anu said emotionally. “They are pieces of my heart.” He also added that their children including popular musicians Armaan Malik and Amaal Mallik are deeply loved. “They are our jaan and will always remain so,” he said.
Anu Malik also addressed the common perception that the Malik family is quick-tempered. Laughing off the rumours, he said that what looks like anger to outsiders is actually a different kind of love. “Someone said we get angry,” he shared. “But I said, that’s not anger it’s a Malik trait. It’s love that comes out strong. We were one, we are one, and we will always be one.”
Despite Anu’s calm tone, his nephew Amaal Mallik painted a different picture recently. In an earlier interview with Siddharth Kannan, Amaal claimed that professional rivalry often strained the relationship between Anu and his father Daboo Malik.
He accused Anu of being overly competitive. “He would go behind my dad’s back and offer to work for free, just to take projects away,” Amaal alleged. “It affected my father’s career.”

While Anu Malik insists that love remains the foundation of the family, Amaal’s allegations suggest deeper cracks behind the scenes. Whether it’s tough love or unresolved rivalry, the Malik family’s story is a mix of deep emotional ties and professional complexities with more than a few songs in between.
