Weekend Theatrical Releases: While big Tollywood projects take a backseat this weekend, the smaller ones get the opportunity to shine at the box-office. September 19 saw the release of several films belonging to mid- or low-budget ventures, offering stories-from action-filled thrillers to stories of love and even experimental cinema. Let’s take a look at this week’s theatrical offering.

1. Daksha – Father-Daughter Duo on Screen

Daksha – The Deadly Conspiracy has become quite hyped, with this being the first pairing of popular older actor Mohan Babu and his daughter Manchu Lakshmi. Directed by Vamsi Krishna Malla, the thriller also has Samuthirakani playing an important role. The film is produced by Sri Lakshmi Prasanna Pictures and Manchu Entertainment and offers an experience like no other at the theatres.

Bhadrakali gets its direction from Arun Prabhu with it being produced under the banner of Sarvanth Ram Creations. A blend of political tussle and power-packed drama, the film is highly anticipated to garner attention in both the Tamil and Telugu markets, owing to Antony’s huge fan base.

For the lighter ones amongst the storytelling set around these films, Beauty starring Ankit Koyya and Neelakshi releases this Friday. The story, directed by JSS Vardhan with the guidance of director Maruthi, tries to attract the young viewers with a contemporary romantic tale.
