Artificial Intelligence is taking over industry by industry. This has become a trending topic when Amazon laid off more than 18k employees due to the company restructuring of hirearchy. But many industrialists slammed the stated reason saying, AI is the upcoming danger if we let it keep taking over every industry one by one. Many big Industries has been replacing human resource with AI resource to fill the little gap and save time. After Amazon, now AI made Zomato lay off 600 employees at once to take over this too.
Zomato has hired approximately 1,500 customer support staff under The Zomato’s Zomato Associate Accelerator Program (ZAAP). Their main goal is to promote them into various roles in sales, operations, supply chains and other departments, within a year after reviewing their skills.
Now, the sudden lay offs around 600 employess who were hired under ZAAP is making a massive buzz. The reason that the employers stated is due to the slower core growth.

They have also stated the challenges that they are facing due to the tough competition from Blinkit, which delivers faster than Zomato. They also highlighted that they paid the lay offs, a month salary as a compensation for terminating them without a notice.
Insiders revealed that Zomato’s plan to turn customer support service Artificial Intelligence based, they laid off many employees without clear reason, especially the ones who were hired under ZAAP program.
Another big minus for this company is the top executives like Akriti Chopra, Co founder and Chief People Officer and others have left the company. This also brought significant challenges to the company in handling the loss and competition.
