Stock Market Today:
The Indian stock market is facing mixed signals due to rising tensions between India and Pakistan and global economic developments. On Thursday, the Sensex and Nifty 50 are expected to start lower. This comes as geopolitical concerns dominate headlines, especially after India launched ‘Operation Sindoor’ targeting terror camps across the border.
Despite the political unrest, the stock market ended slightly higher on Tuesday. The Sensex closed at 80,746.78, gaining over 105 points, while the Nifty 50 rose 34.80 points to reach 24,414.40. Analysts believe the market is balancing geopolitical risks with support from foreign investments and stable global indicators.
Asian markets showed a mixed trend following a positive session on Wall Street. Japan’s Nikkei 225 and South Korea’s Kospi both gained, while Hong Kong’s market hinted at a stronger opening. In the US, the stock market closed higher after the Federal Reserve decided to keep interest rates unchanged. The Dow Jones rose by nearly 285 points, and the S\&P 500 and Nasdaq also made small gains.
In corporate news, Alphabet’s shares dropped significantly after reports suggested Apple may add AI-powered search to its browser. Meanwhile, Nvidia, AMD, and Disney saw notable gains.
The US Federal Reserve left its key interest rate between 4.25% and 4.5%. Fed Chair Jerome Powell mentioned that while the economy remains strong, uncertainty about inflation and growth could lead to changes in policy, depending on data.
Tensions between India and Pakistan worsened after Indian forces destroyed terror camps under Operation Sindoor. Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has warned of retaliation.
On the commodities front, gold prices climbed slightly due to inflation fears, while oil prices remained steady after a recent drop.
Overall, investors are advised to stay cautious. Market movements will likely continue to reflect the situation between India and Pakistan, global inflation concerns, and signals from the US central bank.
